Yukihisa Fujita, a member of the Upper House of the Japanese Parliament has recently published a book titled: "Questioning 9/11 in Japan's Parliament - Can Obama Change the USA?"
Co-authors are David Ray Griffin, Yumi Kikuchi and Akira Dojimaru.
Councilor Fujita is a current member and former director of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense. In this function he questioned 9/11 three times in parliament. Fujita claims that 9/11 as the main reason for the "War on Terror" needs to be newly investigated in order to find peaceful solutions.
On April 8 there was a formal reception on the ocassion of the publishing of Mr. Fujita's book at the Tokyo Dome Hotel.
[...]
All speakers fully supported Mr. Fujita's efforts emphasizing the importance of the 9/11 questions in the context of the need of peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan and the protection of Japan non-military constitution.

At end of the event a formal greeting adress by opposition and DPJ party leader Ichiro Ozawa was read to the audience in which Ozawa called for Mr Fujita to be persistent in his efforts.

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. — This highly successful television quiz show is the latest challenge for artificial intelligence.
What is "Jeopardy!"?
That is correct.
IBM plans to announce today it is in the final stages of completing a computer program to compete against human contestants on "Jeopardy!"
IBM scientists previously devised a chess-playing program to run on a supercomputer called Deep Blue that beat the world champion Garry Kasparov in a 1997 match (Kasparov called it unfair and secured a draw in a later match against another version of the program).
But chess is a game of limits, with pieces that have clearly defined powers. "Jeopardy!" requires a program with the suppleness to weigh an almost infinite range of relationships and to make subtle comparisons and interpretations.

Obama's first 100 days take sharp turn from Bush era

WASHINGTON — In his first 100 days in office, President Obama has not hesitated to chart a different course than his predecessor, George W. Bush.
Bush focused on the Iraq war; Obama has placed more of an emphasis on Afghanistan[What?! So the problem is, apparently, the geography?]. Obama wants the government to have a role in reshaping the nation's health care system; Bush preferred to take smaller steps so individuals could buy private health insurance.
Then there's personal style; the cool, African-American lawyer from Chicago, and the back-slapping white rancher from Texas.[Very important difference! :( ]

One Internet Village, Divided: In Developing Countries, Web Grows Without Profit

·If Web companies “really want to make money, they would shut off all those countries.”[!!!!!]

Facebook is booming in Turkey and Indonesia. YouTube's audience has nearly doubled in India and Brazil.
That may seem like good news. But it is also a major reason these and other Web companies with big global audiences and renowned brands struggle to turn even a tiny profit.
Call it the International Paradox.
Web companies that rely on advertising are enjoying some of their most vibrant growth in developing countries. But those are also the same places where it can be the most expensive to operate, since Web companies often need more servers to make content available to parts of the world with limited bandwidth. And in those countries, online display advertising is least likely to translate into results.
This intractable contradiction has become a serious drag on the bottom lines of photo-sharing sites, social networks and video distributors like YouTube. It is also threatening the fervent idealism of Internet entrepreneurs, who hoped to unite the world in a single online village but are increasingly finding that the economics of that vision just do not work.[...'the economics of that vision just do not work'?.....low margins, piracy, conficker, etc. They really do want to control the internet, don't they?]

Britain's nuclear submarine fleet has been hit by a series of serious safety breaches involving repeated leaks of radioactive waste, broken pipes and waste tanks at its home base on the Clyde, the Ministry of Defence has disclosed.
In a confidential report released under the Freedom of Information Act, the MoD has admitted that safety failings at the UK's main nuclear submarine base at Faslane, near Glasgow, are a "recurring theme" and ingrained in the base's culture.
The worst breaches include three leaks of radioactive coolant from nuclear submarines in 2004, 2007 and 2008 into the Firth of Clyde, while last year a radioactive waste plant manager was replaced. It emerged he had no qualifications in radioactive waste management.
The repeated safety breaches, which have been revealed in documents released to Channel 4 News, are so serious that the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (Sepa) has warned that it would consider closing the base down if it had the legal powers to do so.

How night owls are cleverer and richer than people who rise early

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1173028/How-night-owls-cleverer-richer-people-rise-early.html

It has long been held that the early bird catches the worm. But it is the night owl that lasts the distance, research shows.
It found that late risers tire less quickly than those who make a point of getting up at the crack of dawn.
The study is likely to be embraced by anyone tired of being branded lazy for their love of a lie-in.
And it adds to growing evidence that it is night owls that rule the roost.
Previous studies have found that those who rise later tend to be both cleverer and richer than early birds.
For the latest study, scientists pitted morning larks against night owls in a task designed to measure their reaction and attention times.
During the experiment, the volunteers got up and went to bed at their usual times, with the larks tending to turn in four hours earlier than the owls.
Both did similarly well at the task shortly after getting up. But ten hours into their day, it was the night owls that shone, being both quicker and more alert at the task, the journal Science reports.

Virus Confickerhttp://www.datafull.com/site/media/images/Conficker_h.jpg
BOSTON (Reuters) - A malicious software program known as Conficker that many feared would wreak havoc on April 1 is slowly being activated, weeks after being dismissed as a false alarm, security experts said.
Conficker, also known as Downadup or Kido, is quietly turning thousands of personal computers into servers of e-mail spam and installing spyware, they said.
The worm started spreading late last year, infecting millions of computers and turning them into "slaves" that respond to commands sent from a remote server that effectively controls an army of computers known as a botnet.

American Stonehenge: Monumental Instructions for the Post-Apocalypse

·The Georgia Guidestones may be the most enigmatic monument in the US: huge slabs of granite, inscribed with directions for rebuilding civilization after the apocalypse. Only one man knows who created them—and he's not talking.
http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/magazine/17-05/ff_guidestones

The strangest monument in America looms over a barren knoll in northeastern Georgia. Five massive slabs of polished granite rise out of the earth in a star pattern. The rocks are each 16 feet tall, with four of them weighing more than 20 tons apiece. Together they support a 25,000-pound capstone. Approaching the edifice, it's hard not to think immediately of England's Stonehenge or possibly the ominous monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Built in 1980, these pale gray rocks are quietly awaiting the end of the world as we know it.
Called the Georgia Guidestones, the monument is a mystery—nobody knows exactly who commissioned it or why. The only clues to its origin are on a nearby plaque on the ground—which gives the dimensions and explains a series of intricate notches and holes that correspond to the movements of the sun and stars—and the "guides" themselves, directives carved into the rocks. These instructions appear in eight languages ranging from English to Swahili and reflect a peculiar New Age ideology. Some are vaguely eugenic (guide reproduction wisely—improving fitness and diversity); others prescribe standard-issue hippie mysticism (prize truth—beauty—love—seeking harmony with the infinite).

Fighting Deadly Flu, Mexico Shuts Schools

·The World Health Organization planned to consider raising the world pandemic flu alert to 4 from 3. Such a high level of alert has not been reached in recent years, even with the H5N1 avian flu circulating in Asia and Egypt.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/25/world/americas/25mexico.html?_r=1&hpw

MEXICO CITY — Mexican officials, scrambling to control a swine flu outbreak that has killed as many as 61 people and infected possibly hundreds more in recent weeks, closed museums and shuttered schools for millions of students in and around the capital on Friday, and urged people with flu symptoms to stay home from work.
“We’re dealing with a new flu virus that constitutes a respiratory epidemic that so far is controllable,” Mexico's health minister, José Ángel Córdova, told reporters after huddling with President Felipe Calderón and other top officials on Thursday night to come up with an action plan. He said the virus had mutated from pigs and had at some point been transmitted to humans.
The new strain contains gene sequences from North American and Eurasian swine flus, North American bird flu and North American human flu, said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A similar virus has been found in the American Southwest, where officials have reported eight nonfatal cases.
Most of Mexico’s dead were young, healthy adults, and none were over 60 or under 3 years old, the World Health Organization said. That alarms health officials because seasonal flus cause most of their deaths among infants and bedridden elderly people, but pandemic flus — like the 1918 Spanish flu, and the 1957 and 1968 pandemics — often strike young, healthy people the hardest.

As John Wraith, the head of sterling rates product development at RBC Capital, says: “If investors get worried, and start to think this is the norm, they may sell the market or demand much higher yields. At the moment, interest payments on the national debt are 3 per cent of GDP, but you could easily see it get to 6 per cent. Six per cent of £1.2 trillion is more than £70 billion — and that’s just the interest bill.

“That is unaffordable. If you get to that, that is IMF territory — it means that you, as an economy, have gone bankrupt and can no longer afford to run your country’s finances. That’s a scenario, not a forecast, but it’s a perfectly feasible one.”

For the time being, most international investors see the current crisis as still being global, rather than Britain’s fault. But the Government — or a Conservative successor — will need to make tough decisions in coming years to prove that it has brought the fiscal situation under control.

If not, it is perfectly possible that the IMF will do it for them, relegating Britain to the stature of a Latin American banana republic in the process.

Undercover police are running a network of hundreds of informants inside protest organisations who secretly feed them intelligence in return for cash, according to evidence handed to the Guardian.

They claim to have infiltrated a number of environmental groups and said they are receiving information about leaders, tactics and plans of future demonstrations.

The dramatic disclosures are revealed in almost three hours of secretly recorded discussions between covert officers claiming to be from Strathclyde police, and an activist from the protest group Plane Stupid, whom the officers attempted to recruit as a paid spy after she had been released on bail following a demonstration at Aberdeen airport last month.

Evidence:The Case For NASA UFOs

David Sereda presents this NASA footage and his remarkable discoveries in this two part series. He shows proof of intelligent craft through the process of elimination of other plausible phenomena; fundamental principles of faster than light technology and corroborating evidence found on the disc shaped objects; links to the supposed spacecraft and an identifiable star system. Over 2 hours of
coverage. Starring David Sereda and featuring television and film celebrity Dan Akroyd.

David Sereda - NASA's Dilemma Caught On Tape

NASA’S DILEMMA: UFOS CAUGHT ON CAMERA, with David Sereda. David Sereda discusses his personal UFO sighting in Berkley, CA in 1967, “When you see video and photographs, from the perspective of having seen a UFO with your own eyes, eyes that never lie, the photographs remind you of the truth that this is all real. But for the person who has never seen one with their eyes, they think perhaps this is all some kind of trickery.” Always following the Astronauts on every Apollo mission, David Sereda grew up with the love of spaceflight. He has particularly followed closely the career of Astronaut Gordon Cooper, the legend with the "right stuff" who also happens to be the most outspoken on the matter of extraterrestrial-related phenomena. As far as Sereda is concerned, if Gordon Cooper says it's real, you can take that to the bank. In 1994, Martyn Stubbs, the Canadian UFO researcher, who archived hundreds of hours of live NASA missions, approached David to conduct a scientific investigation into anomalies with NASA video footage. He spent 6 years in private discussions with top NASA officials and scientists about these anomalies. In 2002, he released a book and 3-hour documentary film, Evidence, the Case for NASA UFOs. He will discuss the significance of UFO technology, the quest for a supraluminal propulsion system and becoming free of the bonds of planet earth!

The spider, which measures just a few millimetres across, has developed bizarre markings giving the appearance of a smiling face.

Scientists think the spider, which has the scientific name Theridion grallator and is harmless to humans, has evolved the patterns to confuse predators.

It is under-threat of extinction in the rainforests of the Hawaiian island chain in the Pacific.

Dr Geoff Oxford, a spider expert from the University of York, said: "I must admit when I turned over the first leaf and saw one it certainly brought a smile to my face.

Government set to scrap Titan prison plans

·Proposals for three 2,500 capacity jails likely to be replaced with plans for five 1,500-place prisons.

The government is set to abandon plans for three 2,500-capacity Titan prisons, it emerged today.

The justice secretary, Jack Straw, is instead expected to announce plans for five 1,500-place jails on Monday.

Two of those are set to go ahead immediately.

Although sources denied the decision had anything to do with the budget or making savings, the scheme was identified in today's Guardian as one likely to be axed as a public spending squeeze puts pressure on government departments.

Other initiatives under threat are believed to include the identity card scheme, building a successor to the Trident missile and new military aircraft carriers.

"We have consulted on plans for new prisons and have listened carefully to all views," a Ministry of Justice spokesman said.

"The justice secretary will make a statement on this issue shortly, and we cannot comment further on speculation.

"Since 1997, the government has increased prison capacity by 24,000 places and we remain on course to increase the total number to 96,000 by 2014."

Feynman~The Last Journey Of A Genius

A Nobel-winning physicist, inveterate prankster, charismatic speaker, gifted teacher and musician, Feynman (1918-1988) charmed plenty of contemporary and future scientists with accounts of his colorful personal and professional adventures in the bestselling "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!" and explained the fundamentals of physics in "Six Easy Pieces." He assisted in the development of the atomic bomb at Los Alamos, expanded the understanding of quantum electrodynamics, translated Mayan hieroglyphics, and -- politics be damned -- cut to the truth behind the Challenger disaster.

Though
Feynman has been gone now for many years, his work lives on in quantum physics, computer design, and nanotechnology, and his natural curiosity, excitement and sense of wonder live on in videos like this one... Enjoy!

Jeff Rense Interviews The Webbot's Cliff High

Jeff Rense interviews Cliff High of Half Past Human regarding his views on upcoming events for this year and beyond. In this interview, High reveals his forecast for the economy, environment, social structure and politics.
High employs a technique based on radical linguistics to reduce extracts from readings of dynamic postings on the internet into an archetypical database. With this database of archetypical language, he is able to calculate the rate of change of the language.
The forecasts of the future are derived from these calculations. The calculations are based on a system of associations between words and numeric values for emotional responses from those words. These 'emotional impact indicators' are also of his own devising. They are attached to a data base of over 300/three hundred thousand words. This data base of linked words/phrases and emotions is the lexicon from which the future forecasting is derived.
Cliff High calls his future viewing the ALTA reports for 'asymetric language trend analysis'. The ALTA reports are available by subscription.
