Del mismo modo que el número Pi (3,141592...) representa el cuerpo geométrico más perfecto, la esfera, 1,618033... es el número de la belleza. El monje del siglo XV Luca Pacioli, quizá influido por la idea de que los nuevos conocimientos debían adaptarse a las creencias de la Iglesia, lo llamó La Divina Proporción e indicó: “Tiene una correspondencia con la Santísima Trinidad, es decir, así como hay una misma sustancia entre tres personas –Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo–, de igual modo una misma proporción se encontrará siempre entre tres términos, y nunca de más o de menos”. Lo que se esconde tras esta esotérica frase, más propia de alquimistas y ocultistas que de matemáticos, es ese número, el cual se cree que fue bautizado por Leonardo da Vinci con el nombre de número áureo. Siglos más tarde el matemático estadounidense Mark Barr le asignó la letra griega fi, en honor al escultor Fidias, que lo usó en sus obras.

CNN: Former astronaut: Man not alone in universe

(CNN) -- Earth Day may fall later this week, but as far as former NASA astronaut Edgar Mitchell and other UFO enthusiasts are concerned, the real story is happening elsewhere.

Mitchell, who was part of the 1971 Apollo 14 moon mission, asserted Monday that extraterrestrial life exists, and that the truth is being concealed by the U.S. and other governments.

He delivered his remarks during an appearance at the National Press Club following the conclusion of the fifth annual X-Conference, a meeting of UFO activists and researchers studying the possibility of alien life forms.

Mankind has long wondered if we're "alone in the universe. [But] only in our period do we really have evidence. No, we're not alone," Mitchell said.

"Our destiny, in my opinion, and we might as well get started with it, is [to] become a part of the planetary community. ... We should be ready to reach out beyond our planet and beyond our solar system to find out what is really going on out there."

VANCOUVER — Thousands of marijuana smokers gathered in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery on Monday to celebrate "420," which is dubbed National Pot Smoking Day.

"We're trying to stay upwind," joked Vancouver police Sgt. Jim Patenaude, who was watching with a number of other officers on bicycles as smoke clouds arose from the crowd.

He said police were mainly monitoring the situation for crowd control and public safety.

"We're just here to keep the peace," Patenaude explained.

"It would be totally inappropriate to jump in and arrest."

He estimated about 5,000 people, mainly in the 18 to 20 age range, had gathered by noon, with more expected as the time approached 4:20 p.m. on 4\20.

The significance of 420 is hazy but is believed to be code for smoking pot started by a group of students at a California high school who would meet at 4:20 each day, after detentions finished.

"My alarm on my phone goes off at 4:20 every day," said Jermaine Coe, 16, a Langley Secondary school student who attended the event with friends.

Julia Trudell, 18, who lives near Nanaimo, said she and a friend caught the 8:30 a.m. ferry to attend the 420 celebration.

"It's unbelievable," she said, smoking pot from a purple bong (pipe). "It almost feels fake, it's so unreal."

One booth set up on the plaza was selling snacks for stoners and $1 stickers that said: "Legalize, Regulate, Educate, Medicate."

"We promote cannabis as a wonderful medicine" said the booth's operator, who would only reveal his first name: Jim, 48.

"The only thing that's harming people is the prohibition of it," he said.

Israeli PM ‘No second Holocaust’

ISRAELI Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged yesterday not to allow Holocaust deniers the chance to carry out a second Holocaust against the Jewish people.

He spoke at the ceremony marking Israel’s annual memorial day for the six million Jews killed by Nazis and their collaborators during World War II, but the event fell under the shadow of the UN anti-racism conference in Geneva, perceived in Israel as anti-Semitic.

Speaking at Yad Vashem, Israel’s official Holocaust memorial and study centre, Netanyahu said: “We will not allow the Holocaust deniers to carry out another Holocaust against the Jewish people. This is the supreme duty of the state of Israel. This is my supreme duty as prime minister of Israel.’’

Oracle cerró un acuerdo definitivo de compra con Sun Microsystems, la empresa entre cuyos mayores éxitos están el lenguaje de programación Java, que utilizan más de 1.000 millones de aparatos en todo el mundo, la base de datos MySQL, el sistema operativo Solaris y los servidores. Under the proposed new rules, broadband providers will be legally able to limit the number of websites you can look at, and to tell you whether or not you are allowed to use particular services. It will be dressed up as ‘new consumer options' which people can choose from. People will be offered TV-like packages - with a limited number of options for you to access.

It means that the Internet will be packaged up and your ability to access and to put up content could be severely restricted. It will create boxes of Internet accessibility, which don't fit with the way we use it today. This is because internet is now permitting exchanges between persons which cannot be controlled or "facilitated" by any middlemen (the state or a corporation) and this possibility improves the citizen's life but force the industry to lose power and control. that's why they are pushing governments to act those changes.

In an April 7 article in The London Telegraph titled “The G20 Moves the World a Step Closer to a Global Currency,” Ambrose Evans-Pritchard wrote:

“A single clause in Point 19 of the communiqué issued by the G20 leaders amounts to revolution in the global financial order.

“‘We have agreed to support a general SDR allocation which will inject $250bn (£170bn) into the world economy and increase global liquidity,’ it said. SDRs are Special Drawing Rights, a synthetic paper currency issued by the International Monetary Fund that has lain dormant for half a century.

“In effect, the G20 leaders have activated the IMF’s power to create money and begin global ‘quantitative easing’. In doing so, they are putting a de facto world currency into play. It is outside the control of any sovereign body. Conspiracy theorists will love it.”

Indeed they will. The article is subtitled, “The world is a step closer to a global currency, backed by a global central bank, running monetary policy for all humanity.” Which naturally raises the question, who or what will serve as this global central bank, cloaked with the power to issue the global currency and police monetary policy for all humanity? When the world’s central bankers met in Washington last September, they discussed what body might be in a position to serve in that awesome and fearful role. A former governor of the Bank of England stated:

“[T]he answer might already be staring us in the face, in the form of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). . . . The IMF tends to couch its warnings about economic problems in very diplomatic language, but the BIS is more independent and much better placed to deal with this if it is given the power to do so.”

And if the vision of a global currency outside government control does not set off conspiracy theorists, putting the BIS in charge of it surely will. The BIS has been scandal-ridden ever since it was branded with pro-Nazi leanings in the 1930s. Founded in Basel, Switzerland, in 1930, the BIS has been called “the most exclusive, secretive, and powerful supranational club in the world.” Charles Higham wrote in his book Trading With The Enemy that by the late 1930s, the BIS had assumed an openly pro-Nazi bias, a theme that was expanded on in a BBC Timewatch film titled “Banking with Hitler” broadcast in 1998. In 1944, the American government backed a resolution at the Bretton-Woods Conference calling for the liquidation of the BIS, following Czech accusations that it was laundering gold stolen by the Nazis from occupied Europe; but the central bankers succeeded in quietly snuffing out the American resolution.
