One of the newest energy lobbyists claims he has the answer to climate change: spaceships.
The government has in its possession "extraterrestrial vehicles," lobbyist Stephen Bassett said. As in flying saucers.
Imagine the power source, he said, behind a 30-foot wide saucer that weighs the same as a tractor-trailer yet hurtles through galaxies at 20,000 miles per hour.
"What is the energy system operating that craft?" Bassett said. "They're not burning kerosene."
He added, "It eliminates oil. It eliminates coal. If it's as good as we think it is, it transforms everything."
No more ozone hole or melting polar ice caps, Bassett said. And the price of electricity would drop to almost nothing.

He is working for free as a lobbyist, representing the Hawaii-based Exopolitics Institute, an educational organization which describes itself as "dedicated to studying the key actors, institutions and political processes associated with extraterrestrial life." Pentagon Preps Soldier Telepathy Push

Forget the battlefield radios, the combat PDAs or even infantry hand signals. When the soldiers of the future want to communicate, they’ll read each other’s minds.
At least, that’s the hope of researchers at the Pentagon’s mad-science division Darpa. The agency’s budget for the next fiscal year includes $4 million to start up a program called Silent Talk. The goal is to “allow user-to-user communication on the battlefield without the use of vocalized speech through analysis of neural signals.” That’s on top of the $4 million the Army handed out last year to the University of California to investigate the potential for computer-mediated telepathy.
Before being vocalized, speech exists as word-specific neural signals in the mind. Darpa wants to develop technology that would detect these signals of “pre-speech,” analyze them, and then transmit the statement to an intended interlocutor. Darpa plans to use EEG to read the brain waves. It’s a technique they’re also testing in a project to devise mind-reading binoculars that alert soldiers to threats faster the conscious mind can process them.
The project has three major goals, according to Darpa. First, try to map a person’s EEG patterns to his or her individual words. Then, see if those patterns are generalizable — if everyone has similar patterns. Last, “construct a fieldable pre-prototype that would decode the signal and transmit over a limited range.”
The military has been funding a handful of mind-tapping technology recently, and already have monkeys capable of telepathic limb control. Telepathy may also have advantages beyond covert battlefield chatter. Last year, the National Research Council and the Defense Intelligence Agency released a report suggesting that neuroscience might also be useful to “make the enemy obey our commands.” The first step, though, may be getting a grunt to obey his officer’s remotely-transmitted thoughts.

Scouts were about preventing forest fires and “Do a Good Turn Daily.” Scouts worked with the Salvation Army and the Red Cross. They cherished ideals such as the Cub Scout Promise and the Law of the Pack.
Now the Boy Scouts have a new mission — fighting terrorism, rounding up illegal aliens, search and destroying marijuana fields, and embracing the SWAT mentality.

Los internautas rechazan el anteproyecto de ley de financiación de televisión pública aprobado el pasado viernes por el Consejo de Ministros al considerar "abusivo" que los operadores de telecomunicaciones trasladen a sus clientes un gravamen impuesto desde el Ejecutivo para la supresión de la publicidad en el ente, informó ADSLmasbarato.com.
La plataforma, una iniciativa promovida desde ADSLzone.net y la Asociación del Internauta, anuncia que los internautas exigirán al Gobierno que no se aplique un canon a las conexiones de banda ancha y recordó que no todos los operadores emiten contenidos audiovisuales ni todas las conexiones de banda ancha incluyen transmisión de contenidos o publicidad audiovisual.
Los operadores han advertido de que incrementarán los precios de la conexión de banda ancha y servicios de telecomunicaciones para compensar la tasa del 0,9% impuesta por el Gobierno y que detallarán el concepto de cada servicio que deberán pagar los usuarios para financiar la televisión pública.
Asimismo, los internautas explicaron que el precio adicional a pagar por los clientes debido a esta medida se uniría a los precios del ADSL en España más altos que los de la media del mercado europeo. Según los últimos datos presentados por la Comisión de Mercado de las Telecomunicaciones (CMT), la banda ancha en velocidades medias, de entre 2 y 10 megas, es un 11,7% más cara que la media de los países de la Unión Europea.
"Un canon adicional en la factura del ADSL va en contra del desarrollo de la sociedad de la información, recorta la cultura y el acceso a las nuevas tecnologías y coincide en un momento económico preocupante para las familias", afirmó el promotor de la iniciativa responsable del portal ADSLzone.net, Javier Sanz.
Por su parte, el presidente de la Asociación de Internautas, Víctor Domingo, se mostró sorprendido con que no sean las cadenas privadas, principales beneficiadas con la publicidad, las que se hagan cargo de este canon.

Si al final se decanta por esas opciones, Obama podría crear en una base militar de su país un sistema de detenciones y juicios que no diferiría mucho del establecido en Guantánamo, la base naval estadounidense en la isla de Cuba, por su predecesor, George W. Bush.

Paradoja: el misterioso Grupo Bilderberg está celebrando en estos momentos su reunión anual. Más de 120 mandamases de todo el mundo, entre banqueros, empresarios, políticos y miembros de la realeza europea, empezaron a llegar ayer a un balneario en Vouliagmeni, al sur de Atenas, donde hasta el domingo analizarán la actualidad internacional y expondrán sus análisis prospectivos. A ese club selecto, con una historia pública con más sombras que luces que espolea la imaginación de cualquiera, ha sido invitado este año el titular de Exteriores, Miguel Ángel Moratinos.
Fuentes del ministerio confirmaron la participación del jefe de la diplomacia española, pero no dieron más detalles. No quisieron explicar si es la primera vez que Moratinos acude a ese foro, tampoco si va algún español más y menos todavía si acompaña a la Reina. Sofía explicó a la periodista Pilar Urbano que ha acudido más de 10 veces a estas citas. "Para mí son unas reuniones apasionantes. Sí, apasionantes", afirma la Reina en el último libro de la entrevistadora.
"A lo largo de los años, vas conociendo a gente muy diversa, bien informada, bien relacionada, cada una con un bagaje formidable en su terreno, en su área o en su país. Allí se juntan personas de muchos mundos: política, finanzas, energía, defensa, comunicaciones, investigación científica... ¡Se aprende tanto!", añade Sofía.
El programa oficial que la Casa Real envía puntualmente a los medios de comunicación cada semana no incluye actividades para la Reina entre ayer y el domingo. Preguntado un portavoz sobre si se debía a la participación en la reunión del Grupo Bilderberg, se limitó a afirmar: "Si no aparece es que tiene actividades privadas. Solo informamos de los asuntos oficiales".
MEDIDAS DE SEGURIDAD ESPECIALES
La prensa de Grecia --país que ya ofreció el mismo balneario idílico para celebrar la reunión de 1993-- ha publicado estos días el nombre de Sofía entre los invitados que se esperan en esta edición. La lista incluye, entre otros, a la reina Beatriz de Holanda; al secretario del Tesoro de EEUU, Timothy Geithner; al representante especial norteamericano para Afganistán, Richard Holbrooke, y al presidente del Banco Mundial, Robert Zoellick.
No hay información oficial sobre quién es quién en el Grupo Bilderberg. Tradicionalmente se ha escrito que nació en 1954 gracias al impulso de Joseph Retinger, un emigrante judío polaco y consejero político, y del príncipe Bernardo de Holanda. El objetivo primero fue fomentar el conocimiento entre las personas que gestionaban el poder a un lado y otro del Atlántico. Actualmente, algunos libros de escritores fascinados por el reverso oscuro del asunto --abonado por internet-- aseguran que en este foro se decidió las subidas del precio del barril de petróleo del 2002 y del 2007 o, el año pasado, se recomendó desactivar el potencial de China con estrategias económicas (crudo más caro, menos materias primas, menos importaciones).
"¡NADA DE CONJURAS"
Al Grupo Bilderberg no pides entrar, como hace José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero con el G-20. Los elegidos, que varían cada año, se tienen que limitar a recibir la invitación. No hay reuniones preparatorias ni ruedas de prensa. Los periodistas no son bienvenidos en los alrededores de los hoteles de lujo que acogen semejantes cónclaves, convertidos en fortalezas con medidas de seguridad excepcionales.
Los asistentes cumplen una única norma: se puede utilizar toda la información recibida, pero ni la identidad del emisor de esos datos ni del resto de oyentes pueden ser revelados. La Reina, que aseguró a Urbano que no toma la palabra, lo ve así: "El secreto es para que cada uno pueda decir con libertad lo que piensa, lo que en un debate le viene a la cabeza, y que eso no se difunda. Pero no es secreto porque estemos conspirando. ¡Nada de conjuras! Allí nadie es reina ni canciller ni presidente de un Gobierno o chairman de una multinacional..."
Pontevedra acogió en mayo de 1989 la cumbre anual. El escenario fue el balneario gallego de La Toja. No parece que Moratinos tenga en mente conseguir la designación para el año que viene, cuando España ostentará la presidencia de turno de la Unión Europea.

A lo largo de este documental se hace un recorrido desde los orígenes hasta el día de hoy en lo relativo a la energía libre y las diferentes tecnologías para captar esta energía. Stephen Wolfram acaba de revolucionar a la mitad de la web al anunciar en su blog que esta lanzando Wolfram Alpha un motor computacional de respuestas a preguntas en lenguaje natural que dan respuestas concretas y esto va en contra de todo lo que se vé hoy en día en los buscadores y en la lógica de internet. Cuando uno hace una pregunta en Google, recibe una serie de links hacia documentos donde supuestamente está la respuesta o en Wikipedia encuentra un artículo con datos específicos del tema pero No la respuesta exacta a, por ejemplo, “¿A que distancia va a estar mañana el sol de la tierra?”.
Y lo más extraño de esto es que no usa ninguna tecnología de la Web Semántica (¿Que van a hacer los que decían que era el futuro de la web si este tipo tiene éxito?) y eso tiene a medio Techmeme hablando de él y a tipos como Venture Beat diciendo que esto es el primer paso a un cerebro electrónico... les recomiendo leer la nota en Twine porque esto puede ser el próximo paso de Internet o el vaporware de la década.

Left-wing conspiracy theorists believe that Bilderbergers form a capitalist nucleus, and there is a germ of truth in this.
