Pocas dudas quedan de que España aumentará en los próximos meses su presencia en Afganistán tanto en el campo de la cooperación [???] como en el del despliegue de efectivos. El anuncio realizado ayer por el ministro de Asuntos Exteriores, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, de que el Gobierno destinará 14,5 millones de euros a construir una nueva base para el Ejército afgano [!!!] y enviará a 12 militares para adiestrar a las tropas que se harán cargo de la instalación tiene todas las trazas de ser el preludio de algún compromiso de mayor entidad. En todo caso, forma parte de lo previsible que el Gobierno acepte ampliar el despliegue en Afganistán con el envío de un batallón, para sumarse al dispositivo de seguridad que deberá proteger las elecciones de agosto [?!], y de instructores de la Guardia Civil.
El PP dice apoyar esta serie de medidas porque coinciden "con el diagnóstico de la secretaria de Estado de EEUU, Hillary Clinton" y no porque emanan de una decisión soberana del Gobierno español, que la someterá al Parlamento próximamente. Se equivocan los populares, porque, a pesar de que el Ejecutivo ha comunicado estas disposiciones con un punto de confusa improvisación, lo cierto es que nada de lo que ha decidido y anunciado violenta el punto de vista del PP, sino que coincide con él hasta en los mínimos detalles, incluida la presencia en la provincia de Herat de 778 militares españoles.
En cambio, todos --Gobierno y oposición-- debieran insistir en la necesidad de que la OTAN precise las características, el calendario y los objetivos de la misión, visto que esta ha consistido hasta la fecha en garantizar la seguridad propia más que en reforzar el control del territorio. Es decir, que ha intentado minimizar los riesgos, lo que ha redundado en la práctica en un debilitamiento del papel desempeñado por los soldados de la OTAN y en un reforzamiento de la insurgencia. Una situación que seguramente ha limitado las bajas, pero que ha consagrado una permanente sensación de ineficacia.
La realidad es que no tiene sentido prolongar indefinidamente este estado de cosas. Una parte importante de la seguridad de Occidente y de los soldados despachados al corazón de Asia depende de que la OTAN aspire a algo más que a gestionar una crisis crónica [!!!]. Si alguien cree que esto es posible sin cambiar las características y las dimensiones de la misión, o es un ingenuo o quiere desorientar a la opinión pública [jejeje...que perspicacia!].

(EFECOM).- El director de Desarrollo de Propiedad Intelectual de Microsoft Ibérica, Txema Arnedo, ha asegurado que la razón por la que España posee un índice de piratería informática superior a la media europea es que en este país se infravalora el talento y se desconoce cómo remunerar la propiedad intelectual.

"La diferencia entre España y, por ejemplo, Dinamarca radica en un factor cultural que hace que en el país escandinavo se valore el talento y se remunere la propiedad intelectual, y en España no", ha declarado Arnedo durante una jornada dedicada a la piratería informática celebrada en el Colegio Mayor Peñafiel de Valladolid.

During tests, researchers were able to successfully predict the intentions of multiple subjects with 70% accuracy by scanning their brains using a technique called functional magnetic imaging resonance.

The study revealed signatures of activity in a small part of the brain called the medial prefrontal cortex that changed when a person took a choice to do something before carrying out the action.

The researchers are already devising ways of deducing what patterns are associated with different thoughts.

What is the Financial Stability Board?

It is the new regulator created by the G20 as an enlarged version of the Financial Stability Forum, which is an advisory group established in 1999 to promote international financial stability through better information exchange and international cooperation. The new FSB will include all G20 countries, Spain and the European Commission. The body aims to identify problems in the financial system and oversee action to address them.

Who runs the regulator?

The Financial Stability Forum is chaired by Mario Draghi, governor of the Bank of Italy. The secretariat is based at the Bank for International Settlements' headquarters in Basel, Switzerland.

What will the new regulator do?

The regulator will monitor potential risks in the economy, especially those involving the biggest firms, and will conduct "early warning exercises" and periodic reviews to spot potential trouble. It will cooperate with the IMF, the Washington-based body that monitors countries' financial health, lending funds if needed. The new regulator will report any possible threats to the stability of the global financial system to the G20 finance ministers, the IMF and central bank governors.

Who will the regulator oversee?

All "systemically important" financial institutions, instruments and markets. This will include, for the first time, the most important hedge funds. These will have to register and report their strategy, debt and risk levels. Hedge funds manage about $1tn (£67bn) of assets.

How will it work?

The body will establish a supervisory college to monitor each of the largest international financial services firms. It will monitor a firm's financial and operational structure, and any contingency funding arrangements, amongst others. It will act as a clearing house for information-sharing and contingency planning for the benefit of its members.

Police officers accused of drunken driving. A female officer's alleged promiscuity and infidelity. A commander whose critics labeled his son a child molester.

Jeff Pataky said he uses negative complaints and anonymous tips to fuel his blogging crusade against Phoenix police. A headline on his Web site suggests rewards would be provided for "dirt" on police indiscretions.

Pataky, a former software sales and marketing executive who now focuses his energy shoveling content on www.badphoenixcops.com, said he believes his online criticism of the department - along with past criticisms of police investigations - led officers to serve a search warrant at his home last week.

Police officials said Wednesday that a Phoenix detective prompted the investigation after complaining about harassment, though they declined further comment.

Pataky said he felt the investigation was a response to a lawsuit he filed on Monday in U.S. District Court saying he was maliciously prosecuted by police in 2007 after his ex-wife accused him of harassment, a case later dropped. In his lawsuit he's asking for an unspecified amount for damages. City officials declined to comment on pending litigation.

Pataky's blog is known in law-enforcement circles for its off-color language that, according to the blogger, is aimed at Phoenix Police Chief Jack Harris, Maricopa County Andrew Thomas and other public officials.

I.B.M. Reportedly Will Buy Rival Sun for $7 Billion

I.B.M. appears on the verge of acquiring Sun Microsystems, a longtime rival in the computer server and software markets, for nearly $7 billion.

The two companies have been negotiating for weeks, ironing out terms of an agreement that would turn I.B.M. into the dominant supplier of high-profit Unix servers and related technology.

I.B.M. is offering $9.50 a share, down from a bid of $10 a share, said people familiar with the discussions who were not authorized to speak publicly. The new agreement would restrict I.B.M.’s ability to walk away from the deal, these people said.

Even at $9.50 a share, the deal would value Sun, based in Santa Clara, Calif., at close to $7 billion. It is close to a 100 percent premium based on Sun’s value before rumors of an acquisition spread last month.

Representatives of I.B.M. and Sun declined to comment. People familiar with the negotiations say a final agreement could be announced Friday, although it is more likely to be made public next week. I.B.M.’s board has already approved the deal, they said.

Europeans seek to organize space junk

DARMSTADT, Germany — Researchers concerned about an increasing amount of debris orbiting the earth are calling for the active removal of space junk, saying it will ensure a safe environment around the planet.

More than 300 scientists and other experts who met for four days at the European Space Agency said Thursday that sharing information is a crucial first step in preventing collisions and predicting with more accuracy where derelict satellites may fall to earth.

"We need to share more data," said Thomas Schildknecht of the Aeronautical Institute of the University of Bern. "We consider this the most important and challenging part for the immediate future."

Various international agencies track the refuse in space. The U.S. Strategic Command, which monitors space debris, keeps track of 13,943 orbiting objects 4 inches (10 centimeters) or larger orbiting the earth, and there are thousands more piece that that are even smaller.

But Heiner Klinkrad, of ESA, emphasized that, in the long term, the removal of derelict satellites and other unused spacecraft was essential if collisions are to be prevented.

Insulting? Yes. Effective? Maybe. A radical approach to poverty that is sweeping American primary schools and health clinics? Yes. A missed trick for Britain? Certainly.

This week the scores of England's primary schools were revealed, showing that a quarter of children leave them without mastering the basics in English and maths - mostly those from poorer families. No one is quite sure what to do about it. More than a decade of laudable investment in teachers, and endless fiddling with the curriculum hasn't helped those kids, who now have little hope of catching up.

The most pioneering American economists would take one look and offer a simple solution: pay kids for doing well. At least seven major pilot schemes have started in the past two years, on thousands of young children in the poorest parts of Washington, New York, Chicago, and Dallas. In another big pilot study in New York, the Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, is paying thousands of poor women to be better mothers.

World Bank President and Bilderberg elitist Robert Zoellick openly admitted the plan to eliminate national sovereignty and impose a global government during a speech on the eve of the G20 summit.

Speaking about the agenda to increase not just funding but power for international organizations on the back of the financial crisis, Zoellick stated, “If leaders are serious about creating new global responsibilities or governance, let them start by modernising multilateralism to empower the WTO, the IMF, and the World Bank Group to monitor national policies.”

In other words, give global institutions the power to regulate national policy as part of the creation of global government.

What Zoellick is outlining is essentially the end of national sovereignty and the reclassification of national governments as mere subordinates to a global authority that is completely unaccountable to the voting public of any country.

The more cynical amongst us would call this a global dictatorship. Zoellick couches the plan in flowery rhetoric of helping the poor and alleviating poverty, but as we have documented for years, the global elite’s goal of world government has little to do with saving the planet and everything to do with creating a global fascist state.

When Jang Ja-yeon killed herself at her home earlier this month, she not only deprived South Korea of a wildly popular soap star. In a damning letter naming the men responsible for the distress that may have caused her to take her life aged 26, Jang heaped shame on the country's entertainment industry with allegations of sexual abuse and exploitation.

In the seven-page letter, written a week before her death, the star of Boys Over Flowers, South Korea's most avidly watched soap opera, chronicled the sexual and other favours she was expected to extend to progress in the cutthroat "Korean Wave" of TV and film.

After making her debut in a 2006 TV commercial, Jang cemented her fame as a vindictive schoolgirl in the soap, and was awaiting the release of her first two films when she died. Almost one million fans visited her website in the 48 hours after her death, on 7 March.

Her allegations, leaked to the media, have prompted an outcry and forced the police to investigate her relationships with several powerful men.

Becoming The Primal (or understanding the biological mechanics of fear)

When the Control System needs to pull in the reins on its feverish denizens, when it wants to curb the opportunities for conscious discovery and just wants everyone to get back in line, it always does the same thing - it strikes fear into the hearts of men.
Fear is a hardwired neurological response designed to get an organism out of trouble. Psychologist Robert Plutchik posited that human emotions are designed to accommodate adaptive survival strategies for reproductive success. In other words, they keep you alive so you can procreate. There are eight primary emotions: fear, anger, sadness, disgust, surprise, anticipation, acceptance and joy. Each emotion has a distinct role to play in the continued existence of the whole organism. Combinations of these produce more advanced emotions like optimism (anticipation + joy), remorse (sadness + disgust) and love (joy + acceptance). The principle is the same as mixing primary colours to obtain subtler secondary and tertiary shades.
Whilst we must acknowledge that there are other, more profound and multi-dimensional energetic qualities to the emotions, for now we shall concentrate on their core organic function. For it is through understanding the mechanics of fear, and its potential uses, together with detaching from the unnecessary portals which promulgate its fake cognition, that the individual fear response can be defused and potentially deactivated altogether.

The biological mechanics of fear look like this:

stimulus event (threat) --> cognition (danger) --> feeling state (fear) --> overt behaviour (escape) --> effect (safety)
